Blockade of coal supplies in Donbas may trigger destructive processes in the national economy and disruption of heat supply in towns and cities.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said this at the Cabinet’s meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reports. "It is absolutely not clear who benefits from the economic and energy blockade of Ukraine. First, there was the blockade of Ukrainian goods, and today we have the economic and energy blockade," Groysman said. According to him, the issue was discussed with the leaders of Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises. "If we do not use Ukrainian subsoil resources, we have only two options: to purchase the coal either from the United States, which is not profitable and time-consuming for the enterprises, or from the Russian Federation," Groysman said. The Ukrainian Prime Minister stressed that the effects of the blockade were devastating for the state. "The blockade may disrupt heating and electricity supplies in urban areas.
