Ukraine's government orders regional administrations to restrict travel from regions

The Cabinet of Ministers has instructed regional state administrations and Kyiv City State Administration to introduce a special regime at entrances to and exits from the regions and to deploy checkpoints with the involvement of servicemen and law enforcement officers.

This is stated in government resolution No. 255 of April 2.

"To set up checkpoints at entrances to and exits from the regions, to involve in an established manner for work at these checkpoints the servicemen, workers, logistical and transport means of enterprises, institutions, organizations irrespective of the form of ownership, units, and divisions of the Defense Ministry and the Interior Ministry," the document reads.

The Cabinet of Ministers instructed the administrations to establish a special regime at entrances to and exits from the regions for citizens and vehicles, to organize the monitoring of the health of travelers by contactless temperature measurement and, if the epidemic situation worsens, to restrict movement between the regions.

In addition, regional state administrations should ensure the equipment of specialized institutions for observation (isolation), food, transportation to them of patients, including from state border checkpoints, as well as checkpoints on the entry into and exit from the temporarily occupied territory of persons in need of observation (isolation), medical surveillance of them.

Regional state administrations are obliged to organize disinfection activities in residential, industrial, educational, sanitary and other premises, buildings, and structures.

If need be, regional state administrations should ensure the prompt withdrawal from intramural to extramural modes of study for involvement in the provision of medical care.

The government also instructed regional state administrations to take additional measures to identify and service single persons, elderly, persons with disabilities, persons in isolation, and to arrange adequate social support for them.

On March 25, the Ukrainian government introduced an emergency situation regime throughout the country and extended the coronavirus quarantine until April 24.

On April 2, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a list of additional quarantine restrictions.
