On June 20, the European Union will extend economic sanctions against Russia for a further six months, Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty reporter Rikard Jozwiak has posted on Twitter - Ukrinform.
"The EU’s economic sanctions on Russia are set to be prolonged at the EU Council on 20 June by six months. Little or no discussions are expected," he wrote. Jozwiak noted that the process of adding more people to the EU sanctions list due to the issuance of Russian passports in Donbas was going slowly. As a reminder, the duration of the current sanctions ends at the end of July. As known, the European Union in July 2014 introduced economic sanctions against Russia for the illegal annexation of Crimea and actions destabilizing the situation in eastern Ukraine. The sanctions were strengthened in September 2014. In March 2015, the European Council linked the effect of restrictive measures with Russia's failure to comply with the Minsk agreements. Since then, the EU has been considering the extension of economic sanctions against Russia every six months.
