Militants launched 52 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in last day

Russian-backed militants launched 52 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area in Donbas over the past day.

This is reported by the ATO Headquarters press center - Ukrinform.

In Donetsk direction, illegal armed formations opened fire from 120mm mortars, weapons on infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers and small arms on defenders of Novotroitske (32km south of Donetsk). The enemy also used 120mm and 82mm mortars and heavy machine guns to launch attacks on Ukrainian positions near Lebedynske (16km north-east of Mariupol), 82mm mortars, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns – in the area of Verkhniotoretske (22km north-east of Donetsk), Pisky (12km north-west of Donetsk), Krasnohorivka (29 km west of Donetsk), Butovka coal mine (11.4km north-west of Donetsk), grenade launchers and small arms – outside Avdiivka (18km north of Donetsk), Marinka (35 km south-west of Donetsk), Vodiane (16km north-west of Donetsk) and Kamyanka (62km south of Donetsk). Militants also shelled Ukrainian troops near Butovka coal mine using weapons on infantry fighting vehicles. Defenders of Nevelske (18km north-west of Donetsk), Talakivka (20km north-west of Mariupol) and Opytne (11.5km north-west of Donetsk) came under heavy machine gun fire. Russian-backed militants also fired at ATO troops outside Lomakyne (15km north-east of Mariupol), Lebedynske, Shyrokyne (20km east of Mariupol), Hnutove (19km north-west of Mariupol), Pyshchevyk (25km north-east of Mariupol) and Opytne (11.5km north-west of Donetsk), using small arms. Ukrainian strongholds near Novomykhailivka (28km south-west of Donetsk) and Marinka came under sniper fire.

In Luhansk direction, terrorists fired 120mm mortars, heavy machine guns and anti-tank rifles on Ukrainian troops near Zaitseve (67km north-north-east of Donetsk). Defenders of Zolote (67km north-east of Luhansk) came under 82mm mortar, grenade launcher, heavy machine gun and small arms fire.

Three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded and another two were injured in enemy shelling in last day.
