Former wrestler Dwayne Johnson has emerged as Hollywood’s highest paid male star, eclipsing top earning female Jennifer Lawrence by almost $20 million in annual earnings.
The actor, 44, has topped the Forbes magazine list of top earning actors after earning $64.5 million (£48.8 million) over the last year. Johnson's sizeable income means he has beat veteran star Robert Downey Jr, Hollywood's highest earning star for three consecutive years, to the number one spot. But while the Hunger Games actress took home less than Johnson, her earnings are significantly higher than male counterparts Ben Affleck, in sixth place with $43 million, and Vin Diesel, Johnson's Furious 7 co-star, at seventh with earnings of $35 million. Jackie Chan's prolific run of film and voice over appearances have pushed him to second on the male list with an annual figure of $61 million, while Matt Damon follows with $55 million.
